Cyclothon event at Ahmedabad
Under the aegis of Special Olympics Bharat, the Ahmedabad chapter organized a cyclothon for persons with Down syndrome. Children from various age groups participated in the program. Dr. Nina Vaidya who took upon herself this task of managing the event describes this fantastic event in her own words:
“It was a fantastic event. We started with a band. My school children learned within 15 days. Those who didn't want to cycle walked holding posters(made by parents) with band. Then the little cutie pie started with tricycle followed by small bicycle with support wheels. The last in cycling was riding a regular bicycle. Those who completed cycling were taken to game zone where our volunteers were ready to play with them. When everyone completed cycling, the flash mob started. The atmosphere was electrifying since morning but flash mob was too much SUPERRRR SE UPPARRRR...!! Alpa, Mohina's mom along with her 45 dancers created magic. The venue being very popular place & located in the middle of the city, many citizens walked in with curiosity & we could really spread the word. The article published in Times yesterday played a major role & highlighted the event to a great extent. Kudos to Vaishaliben, Minal, parents & above all, all the children...children really took great efforts to learn cycling & do it on road. This event was truly an example of a great great teamwork.”
