Launch of the Passport for persons with Down syndrome at Pedicon 2016
The Medical Passport : During the World Down Syndrome Congress 2015 organized at Chennai in August 2015, a recommendation for the introduction of “The Medical Passport” for children and adults with Down Syndrome was made. The passport is a handbook containing details about the individual’s milestone stages of developments and improvements.
This has come true at Pedicon 2016, which is a congress where International and National faculty in the field of Pediatrics share their knowledge and expertise in the field of medical care of neonates, infants, children and adolescents. The passport was inaugurated at the Presidential dinner held on the 20th of January 2016. This is a dinner hosted for pediatricians who are special invitees of the President of the Pediatrics congress.
Dr. Surekha Ramachandran was given a special invitation to speak about the passport and how it would benefit persons with Down syndrome. She spoke during the dinner and launched the passport, which will be immensely valuable for persons with Down syndrome and their guardians to track the various medical milestones in their lives.
