Inclusion in Colleges
The theme for this year is Inclusion and this year has begun on a wonderful note for the Down Syndrome Federation of India. After getting School Students from Delhi to help children with Down syndrome to cycle, we are looking at addressing college students on the importance of Inclusion.
Student community needs to be encouraged to become more inclusive. “Inclusive Education” is a right mandated by the government. We are trying to spread this message across colleges. As the first initiative, Dr. Surekha Ramachandran, President DSFI will be addressing about 250 students of the Quaid-E-Millath Government College for Women, Chennai. These are the next generation mothers and it is important that they have their facts on Down syndrome, disability and inclusion right. Dr. Ramachandran will be talking about Down syndrome and about how persons with Down syndrome deserve an inclusive world. The students will be given information on what is happening in the field of Down syndrome and how to help in making an inclusive world.
This event is on the 10th of January 2019 from 11:00 A.M – 12:30 P.M at the college auditorium.
