Aashi Gupta: Champion of Inclusion and Courage
Hello everyone, meet me , I am Aashi Gupta, 14 years now, taking every challenge with a smile on my face.. born with life threatening blood dysplasia condition, 3 holes in heart , a blocked intestine and a malposed large intestine, Me and my family never believe in giving up. At an age of 7 created world record by crossing Nepalese bridge on Indian Ocean.
I go to normal school and I am given equal opportunities and responsibilities at school to shine and thrive.
Iam a special Olympics state medal winner too in cycling (2021). I have participated and performed in various events like in Divya kala mela, Surajkund Mela and many more.
In 2023, I went to Nepal for first mountaineering adventure camp for people with down Syndrome. I was the youngest and accepted all the daring challenges and completed all the hurdles with enthusiasm.
In 2025, (January and February)I performed twice on stage with National school of Drama and my performance was appreciated by all.
I am awarded with many medals in different sports by special Olympics Bharat. Recently I was awarded with Anand Ahuja award and a trophy by my school as the most promising student of year 2024-25.
I was felicitated by Paralympics gold medalist Ms Nidhi Mishra mam for my achievements. I am an avid swimmer, artist, yoga enthusiast, dancer and a cyclist.
I have done two exhibitions of my paintings and well appreciated too. In 2025, I displayed my paintings at India international Trade fair ( Nov 2025, Bharatmandapam) . In March 2026, I exhibited at Bikaner house and sold 3 paintings.
I am being honoured with once in a life time opportunity of speaking at United Nations on world down Syndrome day, 21st March, 2026 on the theme “together against loneliness’.
I was well appreciated for my efforts for bringing concepts of Inclusion near and far in my social spheres.
It means a lot to me.
On March 2nd, 2026, I was invited for the National launch of birth defects network of india in collaboration with smile train organisation.
I was given spotlight and I spoke about my journey with Down syndrome. I am happy that my words left many inspired and encouraged to work for inclusion.
On 21st March 2026, my radio talk came live on prasar bharti too regarding my lived experience of being someone with down Syndrome and still showing remarkable courage to overcome my obstacles and shine bright with my abilities.
I along with my parents are working for people like me whom society thinks disabled but with our joint efforts through Abhyaashi Smilespecial foundation, we see their ability first.
I say” Himmat karne walo ki haar nahi hoti”. I dream of meeting my biggest inspiration of life Superstar Shah Rukh Khan sir one day and act with him in a movie.
